After attending FIVE WetnHot events, this a great opportunity to connect with men who are generally personable and eager to play. The staff at CCBC and the WnH volunteers all go out of their way to help guests. This year was exceptionally hot – and wet.
I do have one suggestion I STRONGLY urge the planners to consider…
Having a mid-afternoon BBQ (12 to 2 pm) seems misplaced. For those who don’t stay at CCBC, it’s much easier to get a simple breakfast on our drive to the venue. Altering the schedule to have the BBQ closer to dinnertime, say 7 pm, is likely to attract more people and save us from having to find and deal with a restaurant. To arrive a bit earlier on Saturday and Sunday, we would arrive with an appetite, have more time to meet people over dinner, and have more time to play. Please think about it.
I hope to return again next year.
Thank you for your suggestion, Lonnie. The lunch time BBQs give guys a chance to eat and have their food digest before the evening party. Bottoms and versatile men, who comprise the majority of men in attendance, appreciate this. They purposely do not eat before the play party. They spend that time cleaning out in preparation.

As I drove to the airport on the Monday after event I thought about my experience over the past weekend and I will share all of those Wet n Hot details shortly. But I had a COMPLETE feeling of euphoria. I think that encapsulated the entire weekend for me, a total and utter EUPHORIC experience. Friday I landed and checked in at registration. I didn’t stay for that event as I wanted to get to my hotel and check in. That is something I will change for next year. I will come a day early to settle in and defiantly enjoy the socializing at the registration event.

We will move the event to June or September next year because those months have the weather that July did when we started the event in 1997. I wonder why you didn’t go to the “chill room,” an air conditioned hotel room that we had set aside at the host resort for those who became overheated. This was my first Wet n’ Hot. I had known about this event for many years, but Covid had stopped me from attending sooner. I was rather nervous because I did not know anyone prior to arriving. What a weekend. It was my first time attending and I didn’t know what to expect other than what a few friends told me who had attended before. Let me just say that it met and exceeded those expectations on every level imaginable. The hosts were fun and engaged. The volunteers were very helpful when needed. The bar was fully stocked (and they even told me more than once if a water/Gatorade was not quite cold enough yet if they just put them in the ice buckets.)
The fellow attendees were engaging, fun, and non-judgmental. Everyone was there for a good time and I know I had a good time and everyone I have spoken to has said the same. I will definitely attend again and gain my “non-virgin” wristband.

Post your nutritional advice here! Pretty confident I was well hydrated- it never stopped flowing. Keeping nutrient/mineral levels up with the near constant flow is the challenge. ‘Liquid I.V. hydration multiplier’ was my brand of choice. Watermelon and bananas seemed to curb the shakiness (low potassium?)

This year seemed more boring and low energy compared to years past. There aren’t as many play implements and didn’t feel as welcome at CCBC this year. This was the first time I felt the cost wasn’t worth the experience.

Great time at the event and thanks to all the volunteers but I wish the organizers would reconsider holding it in July. temperatures over 115 degrees by day and only dropping to 100 during the party made it too uncomfortable to fully enjoy the scene. If the event could be held in May or September I believe it would be even more popular. I will never visit Palm Springs again in July!
Thanks for commenting. You must have been reading our minds. We are conducting a poll to determine the date that most of our tribe prefers. There are windows within June and September that reliably have the same weather that WetNhot had when it was started in 1997. Now that climate change has made July an inferno, it only makes sense to move the event.
The sex and water sports were great as usual. But the guys in charge of keeping the water and drinks cold failed miserably. I mean…really? It’s your only function. The clothes check looked like a 3 stooges short. They were always struggling to find my clothes.
I’m sorry you had that experience, Chuck. The ice freezer broke on Friday night and, due to the extreme heat, stores ran out of ice at various times during the weekend. All the big stores (Smart & Final, Sams, Walmart, Vons) were out of ice most of the time. We literally ran a full-time truck between stores and the host resort during all party hours to keep the drinks cold. And the husband of one of our dearest and most time-honored clothes check men passed away the day before WnH, so the guys were understandably beside themselves. We and our volunteers remain committed to doing our best at all times.
Thank you for organizing Wet N Hot. It’s truly the best watersports event of the year, especially the kick off party at Barracks. A big thanks to the volunteers.
To make it even better, I would suggest a few changes:
– It was especially hot this year. I’d recommend moving it to May or September
– Misters near the main, social area would help offset things
I had to cancel last minute due to blowing out my knee. But these stories are so fucking hot I can’t wait to try again next year. Sounds well organized and you’re always trying to make it better. (next year I’ll get travel insurance!)
